Duke energy's merger was happend on 3rd July, 2012, Duke energy was merged with Progress energy. After merger duke energy got criticized because of paying $44 million to progress energy CEO bill johnson for 20 minutes on the job. later new Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers explains reason for Johnson's dismissal as "loss of confidence". After the merger is complete, Duke Energy shareholders would own 63 percent of the combined company. The new Duke Energy would have an 18-member board of directors – 11 designated by Duke Energy and seven by Progress Energy.
